So, the blog is a fairly new thing and I thought that it would be a good idea to get us all on the same page, so to speak. The best way to go about that, in my opinion, is to tell you where I am in my processes and where I hope to be in the near future. I have some short- and long-term goals, and I hope that this blog will help me to remain enthusiastic and accountable about them.
In the short-term, I am currently working on a four book shifter series that I will most likely self-publish through Amazon. I have the initial plan for the series laid out and am working on various things to tie the books together in a cohesive series. I have a more in-depth plan for the first of the four books, but I haven’t written everything out yet. My tentative plan is to make this first book a NaNoWriMo project.
National Novel Writing Month is only about five weeks away. “National Novel Writing Month began in 1999 as a daunting but straightforward challenge: to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. Now, each year on November 1, hundreds of thousands of people around the world begin to write, determined to end the month with a first draft.” I would like to participate because I do well with more concrete goals, and I need to get used to writing again on a daily, or at least regular, basis.
I think this goal will give me time to set up a clear outline and writing plan. It will just be a bonus, if I get some writing done ahead of time. I’ll probably also work on some writing exercises to get back in the groove. I’ve been reading about writing, too. I am currently reading The Heroine’s Journey by Gail Carriger.
Are any of you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Is it your first, or have you done it before? Any writing tips? Personally, I need to stock up on Gobstoppers and decide on an awesome soundtrack 🙂
